Nifty! We've been extremely lucky with our appartment. It's only a 20 min. walk to Nevsky Prospekt (the main street of St. P'burg), and a 10 min. walk to the metro station. There a 2 Produkti nearby (small 24-hour supermarkets) and a market a few blocks away. They only problem so far are the rampaging mosquitos. Up untill now, none of the things we tried has worked, and we are currently killing about 15-20 a day... We did a little strawl around the center, and IMHO the best corner in St. Petersburg: The one before Palace Square. You walk through a wide lane under a large archway, when all of a sudden this huge plaza opens up to you, with across it the Winter Palace and the Hermitages. Extremely beautiful and breathtaking. This is also what the city does to you. Although you are in a very different country with a very different culture, you feel almost immediately at home and a nice home it is, when you strawl around in the centre, which hasn't changed very much since the early 19th century.
