We went to Peterhof today.
Peterhof is the czar own personal residence outside St. Petersburg (one of the... actually).
Built by Peter I (the Great) it was firstly intended for him to receive foreigners. He himself back then lived in a rather small villa on the banks of the Newa.
Since then it has grown immensely.
The best part about Peterhof is the park which surrounds it. You do best by travelling there by boat. The reason for this is because Peter was a huge fan of boats, and he let the main entrance be designed to the seaside.
The main entrance is cuhl. You start walking alongside a canal towards the palace, which is elevated about 30 meters from groundlevel and mostly hidden behind the trees, and surrounded by the most beautiful fountains to celebrate (another) victory over the Swedes.
